Number one is enough light from all angles.
number two is a digital camera with macro capabilities
Then just put the camera in macro and get really close to the coin.
You'd be amazed of the detail even a 1.5 megapixel camera can produce.

Don't forget to use the timer to avoid movement. Mounting the camera is helpful too.

I have a Canon Powershot SX10is... on my camera if I hold the macro down, it will go into "SuperMacro" mode, talk about crystal clear |
