What do you guys think about investing in gold buffalo coins?  Is there something better in gold to invest in instead?

Some folks like the Unc version because it is closer in price to the bullion value. The choice is really about investing in gold itself. A lot of folks think it is a good time to buy, but only the future will tell...

I can understand buying the UNC but the PF is much more expensive for someone to make a profit and 300,000 is not even a low mintage.

I just had to have one!  I did a search to check prices.  Definitely a wide range of prices.

THe range of prices go from resonable prices to totally unreasonable.  All of those tv coin shows are jacking up the prices. You can actually find a pretty reasonable one on Ebay

If you want MS69 you will need a graded one. You might be able to find a PCGS or NGC coin on e-bay.

Otherwise they all  come in individual containers and should mostly be MS69. Some decent singles prices can be found at Apmex.com

I just LOVE the 24k Buffalo Coin.  Nothing like 99.99% Gold Bullion
to hold the value of your money and hedge against inflation and
other risks.   Until now I have had to buy Canadian Maple 24k coins,
but now that there is one minted by the United States with a classic
American coin design, I am now a Buffalo convert.  The proof version
is not worth the extra premium.  Buy only the bullion, non-treated-with-chemicals version.

Kindest regards,

GOD bless you,
B. Leon

I just decided I will own one of each and after seeing a bunch the Uncirc version is every bit as beutiful as the Proof.

I will probably buy the UNC version allready in a PCGS slab because when you add the cost of grading and shipping to and from PCGS some of the deals on e-bay are not too bad.

The proof I am ordering from the mint. Not sure if it will be in time but the free coin of the month from grading is the Buffalo gold from PCGS and I want to try and take advantage of it.

I am debating about purchasing either a proof or uncirculated gold buffalo coin.  Someone suggested to me that the mint is planning an anniversary eagle set that will be made available to prior purchasers of the proof buffalo coin.  I haven't seen anything on the net about this nor have I been able to confirm this possibility.  Question:  Can they offer a set based on a prior purchase?  Has this situation ever occurred before?

Yes, I would even say that the bullion version is even MORE beautiful than the chemically-treated proof version.  Natural gold.  Like the natural beauty of a woman without make-up.  No need, when the natural version is so much more beautiful.

See my avatar at left of the bullion version.

The mint sent me a postcard yesterday, with a picture of the proof buffalo on it. ITs a nice coin but I cant spend 800$. Meanwhile I saw the HSN idiots selling the proof in an ICG holder for almost 2,000$.

My buffalo coin arrived today, and I think it is awesome.  It is in a US Mint vacuum-sealed package--looks like plastic to me.  I wanted to put it in an air-tite without taking it out of the US Mint packaging, but all of my air-tites are silver eagle size and it just isn't going to work with this.  What do you guys suggest to do for storing the coin?
