The classical coins are basically Greek and Roman. Non-classical coins are almost everything else. Celtic coins fall into that non-classical coin realm, but so do coins like Parthenon, Islamic, and coins from China or Tibet. You can't categorize coins entirely in one group. There are a lot of smaller groups. In the series 6 books that I wrote about ancient coin collecting, the first one is a road map to a hobby, and the other five are about individual cultures. You could say that those five (Greek, Roman, Roman Provincial, Byzantine, and non-classical) represent the different categories of ancient coin collecting. Non-classical covers a very wide variety of coins from the Middle East to the medieval-looking coins. refLinks('http://hobbies.expertvillage.com/experts/classical-ancient-coins.htm','Classical vs. Non-Classical Ancient Coins');

Hello, Mr. Wayne Sayles.  An odd place to meet one of my favorite authors. I am glad to be able to talk to you! Hopefully some of the coin collectors here will buy your books and find out more about collecting Ancient coin collecting. Your books are great!
