Sorry for the delay in responding to the inquiry about the above quarter.

I did recently pick up an upgrade, an 1894-O quarter in PCGS AU 58.

I just had this image resized smaller so it'd post here...enjoy !!

I did a bit of snooping on the Full Die Brockage 1898 Quarter. It belonged to a well known error specialist, who "sold" it to another dealer, who in turn listed it with Heritage.

The coin did not meet the reserve, and the coin is back for sale at the original specialist's.

Anyone got an extra 100 Thousand ? LOL...LOL... yeah, right.

I was actually naive enough to think I could have bid 20K on it and would have been in contention. Think the coin was originally purchased for 25K, and "resold" for an undisclosed sum.

Specialty items like this don't escalate in value as regular coinage - regardless of grade - as they are so far out of reach to the average collector.

It sure is a neat error regardless; it'd look great in my 1898 Mint Set.

I was fortunate to locate this coin last week, and although not the highest grade in my collection of Barber Quarters, its one of the prettiest:
