I'm wondering if anyone could give me their view on this?   I found an Adams dollar in a new roll that looks as if another, loan letter, has been put into the edge.  It's much more clear when I look at it with the magnfying glasses than when I try to take a picture (difficult to focous), but here is the best I can do.  Your inuput would be appreciated.

No, the little dot is on all of them.  I am refering to the line to the right of the little dot.  It looks as if a  loan letter has been stamped into the edge.  This is on none of the other dollars I have.

Now I'm really going to show my ignorance (be patient with me as I'm new to collecting in general), but what is a "edge hit" and does this effect the value of a coin in any way?

I have attempted to get a much closer image of the picture but it gets too blurred with me.  I'll try again and see what happens.  Thanks.

This is the best image I could come up with.  You see the dot to the left of what looks like the letter i, or L or even the number 1 struck at this point in the edge.  If it is not that, then it sure looks close to it, especially when looking at it under a magnifying glass.  That's why I've had questions about it.

if it is a dropped letter, its only worth about 5-10 bucks. Dropped letters on edges of prez dollars arnt rare, but it still looks like an edge hit.
